Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Audio-Visual Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in AV technology, including setting up, operating, and troubleshooting audio and visual equipment for various events, meetings, and conferences. This role requires a professional with technical expertise who can work independently, often under tight deadlines, while delivering high-quality AV experiences. The successful candidate must provide their own tools and AV equipment, including but not limited to mixers, microphones, cables, and other essential gear.
Key Responsibilities:
- AV Equipment Setup & Operation:
Set up, configure, and operate audio and video equipment, including microphones, projectors, screens, speakers, mixers, and lighting systems for events, meetings, and conferences.
- Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with AV systems on-site. Ensure all equipment is functioning optimally before, during, and after events.
- Live Event Support:
Provide on-site technical support during live events, ensuring smooth operation of AV equipment. Monitor and adjust audio and video levels to ensure clear sound and high-quality visuals.
- Equipment Transport & Storage:
Safely transport, set up, and break down AV equipment. Maintain organized inventory of AV equipment and ensure proper storage after events.
- Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with event coordinators, producers, and other team members to understand event requirements. Communicate effectively with clients, ensuring their AV needs are met.
- Preventive Maintenance:
Perform routine checks and maintenance on AV equipment to ensure all systems are in optimal working condition.
- Technical Documentation:
Document technical setups, troubleshooting steps, and any equipment-related issues for future reference.
- Training & Guidance:
Mentor and train junior AV technicians or new staff on equipment setup, troubleshooting, and event support.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience:
Minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience as an Audio-Visual Technician or a similar role in live events, conferences, or production environments.
- Technical Skills:
Proficient in the setup and operation of audio and video equipment, including soundboards, projectors, microphones, and video cameras. Knowledge of AV integration, signal routing, and broadcast-quality equipment.
- Problem-Solving:
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, especially in live event settings. Ability to think on your feet and handle high-pressure situations.
- Attention to Detail:
Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality audio and visual output during events.
- Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
- Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs.) and stand or move around for extended periods of time.
- Own Tools & Equipment:
Must provide your own AV tools and equipment, including but not limited to mixers, microphones, cables, and other essential gear. The ability to troubleshoot and maintain your own equipment is a must.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with various AV software, including control systems (e.g., Crestron, Extron).
- Familiarity with video conferencing and webinar platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
- Certification in AV or related technical field (e.g., AVIXA CTS or similar).
- Experience with event production and technical direction.
